Among the primary coffee-producing country in the world, Brazil has been the leading country in terms of quality and variations of coffee. They have been in this industry for many years and they even have regulatory board in terms of producing quality coffee beans. Brazil has the perfect climate for growing java and because of this they have been producing quality beans above other countries. A lot of coffee enthusiasts prefer java from Brazil; on the other hand, Brazilian coffee drink is also a popular one. There are various coffee blends that use it as the main ingredient because of its strong full flavor.

Brazil accounts its dry and humid climate for producing quality coffee. Because of its varying rainy seasons, the coffee shrubs produce flower regularly, thus, producing coffee cherries in a lot of times. The dry climate allows perfect dry-processing of them. The dry method of processing them is the hardest and most complicated processing method and Brazil has spent reasonable amount of time and money in perfecting this process. The end result is worthwhile; the beans produced have a well embodied flavor and unique from other ones produced in other countries. Among the coffee shops, “Cafes do Brasil” is offered in different packaging as a lot of consumers want it above other types of java.

Since Brazil is famous for producing world class coffee, they also have their own coffee recipe to be proud of. The main ingredients are hot chocolate, coffee beans, heavy cream and brandy or rum. Just heat in all the ingredients except the heavy cream then, incorporate the heavy cream afterwards. This recipe produces a very unique tasting coffee blend. Furthermore, another popular coffee drink is the cafenzinho. It literally means little coffee and it is usually served among guests and tourists. In making it, just boil down three cups of cold water with a teaspoon of sugar. It is important to boil it under low heat in order to produce cafenzinho’s unique taste. Then, midway the boiling process, just add a tablespoon of ground coffee. It is advisable to utilize the one used in making espresso as it has a very strong flavor. Then after boiling, remove the coffee mixture from heat and filter its residues. A lot of people enjoy it as a black java but you can also add some cream in order to neutralize its strong flavor.

“Cafes do Brasil” can be purchased in a lot of coffee product stores as well as in the Internet coffee shops. Because it is a popular kind of java, finding it in the market is very easy. There are also available various blends of “Cafes do Brasil” and you can enjoy its different taste among other blends. They are usually packed in either whole or grounded beans so you have choices to choose from depending on how you will use it. Adding Brazilian coffee among your choices will add variation in your coffee drinking experience, so it’s good to try one!

This happens to be a perennial argument among coffee lovers or even those who just need some caffeine jolt – what is the difference between instant coffee and regular coffee? At one look, you’d say to yourself that it is perfectly the same so for coffee addicts like you, instant would be the one that comes in a bottle or pack that you usually buy in the supermarket and when you get home, just add hot water and it’s ready to drink. While the regular coffee would mean that you even though you could buy it at supermarkets, groceries or specialty coffee shops, you have to brew it before you could drink it.

In a nutshell, that would be the simplest definition should you encounter such a question on what is the difference between these kinds of coffee? You will be amazed by the big difference of these two ways to enjoy a decent cup of coffee.

Starting with the Instant Coffee – did you know some people are saying that it is fake coffee? That you only get to smell the so-called coffee beans but when you taste it, it has this weird metallic aftertaste to it? The process of this kind of coffee is done in a different way. It goes through a lot of process such as roasting, grounding, brewing and then it gets spray dried or with what others call it freeze dried.

The reason for the so-called “fake” taste is that you need more than a teaspoon of this kind of coffee to achieve that full bodied taste. When you do so, you will not be able to sleep at all or worst, you will have this severe palpitation.

Coffee drinkers who have already tasted and enjoyed a freshly brewed cup of hot steaming coffee would love to banish Instant Coffee from their vocabularies. Their reason here is that they think that coffee should be enjoyed another way and that where no other additives are present. If you don’t have the buying power to go to expensive coffee shops for their brew of the day then commercially dried coffee would work just fine due to its convenience.

Moving on to the underlying question regarding what is the difference, the latter type still goes through the process of roasting, grounding as well as brewing. The advantage of the regular coffee is that the aroma is stronger and it has the full-bodied flavor that you are looking for without having to go through a bad series of acid reflux.

The technique to a better taste actually is dependent on the equipment used as well as the barista brewing the coffee for you. The higher the quality of the coffee beans, either Robusta or Arabica, the fuller its taste becomes. Then what is the difference? The answer boils all down to the preparation, process and last, the execution of serving a perfect cup of hot coffee.

Probably the most common coffee makers are drip coffee makers. Drip coffee makers tend to be considerably less expensive and easier to use than espresso maker coffee machines and come in a host of sizes, styles, color schemes and designs. You should have no trouble finding one that suits your kitchen if you take the time to shop around. Statistics indicate that automatic drip coffee machine sales are approximately 14 million on average.

One of the most prominent automatic drip coffee machines is “Mr. Coffee”. Other highly regarded brands include Cuisinart, Black & Decker, Proctor-Silex and Braun.

Drip coffee makers function by the passing of water through a filter containing an amount of ground coffee. There are two basic filter types for these types of machines, permanent and paper.

Both types of filter can affect the taste of the beverage. Paper filters are disposable, whereas permanent filters are.. well permanent in that they do not need replacing. Permanent filters are usually metal can accommodate coarser grinding of coffee beans than is required in a paper filter.

The features of automatic drip coffee makers vary from model to model depending on how high a particular model sits in the market. Higher end models take care of all the preparation that is needed to go from beans to cup – grinding the beans to brewing the coffee at pre-specified time intervals. Lower end automatic drip coffee machines have a filter basket, water reservoir and warming plate that keeps the pot heated at all times. Most of these coffee makers have a handy filter basket that can be swung or lifted out and have a single control to switch the power on or off.

Some additional features that are included in some models are digital display and/or control panel, timers, clocks, indicator lights, a brew-pause function, automatic shut-off and permanent filters.Higher end makers also include flavor settings, built in grinders and water filtration. Basic single cup machines are offered as well as coffee makers that can handle anything up to 12 cups!

Essential, Commonly Asked Questions (and Answers)

What is the ideal brewing temperature?

General consensus is 200 degrees, although coffee machines in public restaurants do often prohibit temperatures getting this high due to liability risks. If brewing at home it is often a good idea to experiment with different temperatures and test the results.

What are the crucial quality factors affecting a cup of coffee?

There are a number of things that can have an effect on the quality of the final brew. The main factors are quality of coffee beans, time since beans were roasted, the cleanliness of the equipment and quality of water used in brewing.

What is the best way to clean my coffee makers?

You should ensure your coffee machine is cleaned properly on a weekly basis in order to guarantee the quality and taste of coffee brewed and smooth running of the machine. Several common methods have been proposed by various experts. Some suggest using dish washing liquid and water, others mixing a solution of one part vinegar to three parts water through the brewing cycle, followed by plain water to remove waste buildups.

Are you able to use espresso beans in drip coffee machines? Sure. So resolve this for me… where did the term “Cup of Joe” really come from?

Legend has it that alcohol on ships was outlawed by Admiral Josephus Daniels, resulting in sailors drinking coffee as their beverage of choice. Other people will tell you the name is derived from 19 century slang for coffee referred to as “Joe” back then.

When you taste a really fabulous cup of coffee you can be sure that a lot of care and effort has gone into its preparation. Great tasting coffee does not happen by accident, but represents the culmination of preparation, cleanliness and meticulous brewing methods.

The starting point for great tasting coffee does not come from choosing the right blend of coffee or even the type of brewing equipment to be used, but in the quality of the water used and the cleanliness of the equipment!

As coffee is more than 98% water is should come as no surprise that the quality of the water has a dramatic impact of the quality of the finished beverage.

Freshly filtered water should be used when making coffee. Many domestic and commercial water filters and calcium treatment units are available and most do an excellent job in removing heavy elements, impurities and odours from water.

Be sure to draw a little water from the system first, and pour it away. Use fresh clean cold water for starting off the process of brewing your favourite beverage.

The equipment used to brew the coffee should be clean and free of coffee stains and grounds. Coffee contains many complex compounds that can go rancid when left on equipment for a while and will adversely effect the quality of the coffee produced.

Choose a good quality roast coffee bean to suit your taste and make sure you buy it in a sealed bag or container.

Avoid buying pre-ground coffee – it may be more convenient but it will start to oxidise the moment you open the packet and even if subsequently kept in an air-tight container much of the damage will have been done. The flavour of freshly roasted coffee can deteriorate remarkably fast and within a week or so much of the flavour will be lost.

Whole roast coffee beans will also begin to lose some of their flavour once the seal has been broken on the coffee bag, but so long as you keep them in a cool dry place, out direct sunlight and not open to the atmosphere they will stay fresh for quite a while.

For these reasons you should only grind as much coffee you need for the brew in question and not be tempted to grind more than what it going to be used immediately.

Don’t be tempted to store you coffee in the refrigerator as it may become tainted by the odours of other products.

The grind of the coffee is very important to the taste of the final coffee brew. Always follow the guidelines of the brewing equipment used and grind your coffee beans to their specification. Grind too large and the final beverage will be too weak, grind too fine and it may clog up the system.

Typically a standard pour and serve drip method coffee brewer should take between four and six munutes to complete the brew.

Keep your grinder clean.

Grind a little coffee and then discard it, this should get rid of any old stale coffee within the grinder that you cannot see or reach after cleaning.

It is best to wait until the complete coffee jug has brewed before serving. Typically a drip filter machine will produce slightly weaker coffee at the start of its cycle as it comes up to temperature and slightly stronger towards the end. All good things come to those who wait!

To keep coffee as fresh as possible you need to minimise its contact with air. Air is one of coffee's worst enemies as it destroys delicate flavours by turning the natural oils present in coffee rancid.

A coffee grinder is a must have for anyone who loves coffee, for two simple reasons:

Freshness

Control over the Coarseness of the Grind

Freshness

To keep coffee as fresh as possible you need to minimise its contact with air. Air is one of coffee’s worst enemies as it destroys delicate flavours by turning the natural oils present in coffee rancid.

If you have a coffee grinder at home you can grind your coffee beans as and when you need them. This preserves their freshness, as a whole coffee bean has a much smaller surface area than that of a ground bean and therefore is less exposed to air.

The actual process of grinding releases many of the coffee’s aromatics; as you grind you can smell this in the air. If you don’t quickly use these grounds then you are going lose this aroma and deprive your cup of valuable flavours. This is another good reason to only grind coffee on demand.

Control over the Coarseness of the Grind

Different coffee makers require a different coarseness of ground coffee. For example: an espresso machine, which has a short brewing time (less than 30 seconds), needs a very fine powder-like grind; whereas a cafetiere, which has a long brewing time (3-4 minutes), needs a much coarser grind.

With your own coffee grinder you get to control the coarseness of the grind as you can adjust the grinder’s setting. So if you find that your coffee tastes bitter, a result of over-extraction, then you can adjust the grind to a coarser setting; and if your coffee tastes flat, a result of under-extraction, you can adjust the grind to a finer setting.

Blade Vs Burr Coffee Grinders

Coffee grinders come into two categories:

Blade Grinders

Burr Grinders

A blade grinder works in a similar way to a food processor: there is a set of spinning metal blades which roughly cut through the coffee beans. The coarseness of the grind is determined by how long the grinder is left running. Coffee ground by a blade grinder is inconsistent in size as some beans will be sliced through more times then others.

Rather than chopping the coffee beans into tiny pieces, a burr grinder crushes the beans between two pieces of burred metal. A burr grinder produces a much more consistent size of grounds as the coarseness is controlled by how close the two pieces of metal are set to each other: i.e. a smaller distance for fine grounds and a larger distance for coarse. For this reason, burr grinders are far superior to blade grinders.

Why is Consistency Important?

The ultimate aim when making coffee is to extract the maximum amount of flavour whilst leaving behind bitter compounds and caffeine. This is why different coffee makers require a different coarseness of grounds. However, if your grounds are inconsistent then the larger particles in the grounds are going to be under-extracted, leaving behind flavour, and the smaller particles are going to be over-extracted, releasing bitter compounds and further caffeine into the cup. Unfortunately, the two don’t balance each other out; instead you have a flat, bitter coffee that will keep you awake for hours.

Choosing a Coffee Grinder

The coffee grinder you choose should depend on for what type of coffee maker you’re grinding the coffee. If you’re using a cafetiere or stove-top espresso maker then a hand grinder is perfectly adequate, although they do require plenty of physical effort to get results.

However, for an espresso machine a good quality electric burr coffee grinder is essential. As making an espresso is a pretty intense process (its all over in less than 30 seconds) the margin of error for the grind is very slim. This is why you need a grinder which allows for minuscule adjustments to be made so you can get the grind spot on.

Most of us know that coffee is popular having grown up seeing others drink it as well as ourselves. But you may not know why it is popular or just how popular it is.

Many of us drink coffee because we like the taste or “need” the stimulation of caffeine. However, as with anything that is woven into the cultural fabric of so many countries coffee has a history that contributes to its worldwide popularity today. So, sit back and discover “the rest of the story.” I’ll sip a cup while writing this article.

The Popularity of Coffee: An Historical Prospective

In 850 coffee was discovered by a goat herder in Ethiopia who notices his goats are friskier after eating strange red berries. But the internet was slower then and coffee wasn’t cultivated for another 250 years on the Arabian Peninsula. Because Arab Muslims are forbidden to drink alcohol they made a beverage from plants called “qahwa.” It was here, at around the year 1100, that the beans were first roasted and boiled.

What wine was to the Europeans, coffee became to the Arabs. In 1475 the worlds first coffee shop opens in Constantinople. Two more follow 80 years later.

As trade routes were established from Arabia into Africa and Europe this new bean, and beverage, enters Europe through the port of Venice and by 1654 the first coffeehouses open in Italy. As the Europeans established trade routes around the world coffee was a main component of trade.

Coffee is introduced to the New World by Captain John Smith, who established Virginia. While the colonists enjoyed both tea and coffee with a preference for tea, British taxation of tea, and with the history that followed, caused coffee to become the hot beverage of choice for most Americans.

The Role of the Coffeehouse

Just as restaurants opened to satisfy the social need of people, in addition to the biological, coffeehouses allowed people soon to sit down together and enjoy coffee outside of their homes.

Soon, an association between coffee and with social interaction began to form. Arabs began to view coffee as a social drink, similar to our view in modern times. But Arabs also saw it as an intellectual drink calling it “the milk of thinkers and chess players.”

Something similar happened in England. Because a penny is charged for admission and a cup of coffee, coffeehouses are called “penny universities.” Edward Lloyd’s coffeehouse opens in 1688 and eventually becomes Lloyd’s of London, the world’s best known insurance company. The word “TIPS” is coined in an English coffee house: A sign reading “To Insure Prompt Service” (TIPS) was place by a cup. Those desiring prompt service and better seating threw a coin into a tin.

Worldwide Cultivation

With its popularity growing it was inevitable that the cultivation could not be contained in Arabia. In 1690, the Dutch become the first to transport and cultivate coffee commercially. Coffee is smuggled out of the Arab port of Mocha and transported to Ceylon and East Indies for cultivation.

At around 1723, plants are introduced in the Americas for cultivation. A French naval officer transports a seedling to Martinique and by 1777, 1.92 billion coffee plants are cultivated on the island. The Brazilian coffee industry gets its start in 1727 with seedlings smuggled out of Paris.

The different types of coffee drinks that you can get from coffee shops and how to order these sorts of coffee drinks. Coffee has its own language in the coffee shop and knowing how to order your cup of coffee will make you feel more like a connoisseur in the way that you order and drink your coffee.

If you want to drink coffee then the numbers of choices you have are rather limitless. The only limit that your are subject to is what you prefer and what you don’t. Different types of coffee shops have their own different types and blends of coffee available. These coffee shops also have a number of available specialty coffee drinks.

To make an order the first thing that you would need to do is select a drink size of coffee. The person who serves you coffee will usually take the time out to ask if you’d rather have a short, tall, grand or venti. These sizes are usually 8oz, 12 oz, 16oz and 20 oz respectively.

People who are ordering drip coffee can take milk and sugar along with their order. The choices of milk available are another thing entirely. You can opt for different types of milk such as frothed milk which is rather thick, steamed milk, breve, wet or panna which is whipped cream.

After your choice of milk, the next thing you need to decide is whether you want a latte, mocha or if you prefer a cappuccino. A latte is actually an espresso with steamed milk added. A cappuccino is actually a mixture of three things in equal parts : steamed milk, an espresso and frothed milk. A mocha on the other hand is a latte or cappuccino that has chocolate syrup added to it.

These are some of the specialty coffee drinks that you can by from a coffee shop. Some of the different names listed here may differ in the particular coffee shops that you visit for a whole lot of reasons

Espresso Con Panna – This is an espresso shot that is mixed with whipped cream

Double Dry Short – This is a double shot of espresso which is in short cup and which has no foam

Solo – This is a single shot of espresso coffee drink

Doppio – This is a double shot of espresso coffee drink

Caffe Cubano – This is shot of espresso that is heavily sweetened

Quad – This is an Espresso drink that is made with four shots of coffee

Split shot – This is an Espresso shot with half the caffeine

Caffe Americano – This is a single shot of espresso that has 6 to 8 ounces of hot water added to it.

Ristretto – This is a restricted shot of espresso which is also called a short pull. While brewing this sort of coffee a whole lot less water is allowed to pass through the coffee grounds. The makes a flavor of coffee that is rather intense.

Lungo – This is an extra long pull. During the brewing process of making a Lunho, twice as much water is allowed to pass through the coffee grounds.

Dry – This is an Espresso that is made with small amount of foam and no steamed milk added

Chairo – This is an Espresso drink that is made “clear” by the addition of more milk

Caffe Medici – This is Doppio that is poured over chocolate syrup and orange peel, and finally topped off with whipped cream

Frappe – This is a coffee drink that is created along with ice cream and milk

Shot in the Dark (aka Redeye) – This is an espresso shot that is made in a coffee cup and then rest of cup filled up with drip coffee

Café Breva – This is Cappuccino coffee made with Half & Half rather than whole milk

Café Mocha – This is Cappuccino coffee that has chocolate syrup added to it

Caffe Mochaccino – This is Cappuccino coffee that has chocolate syrup added to it.

All these different types of coffee make it hard to select one type of coffee over the other. When you find it hard to decide you can always try a demitasse instead. This word is simply the French word for “half glass”. In coffee terms this usually entails a very small cup of coffee. You can continue trying until you find your pick.

Do you like coffee? Do you stick to one brand or explore? Are you overwhelmed when making a coffee purchase? If you are a novice and want to explore many good tasting coffees, follow these tips and suggestions. You'll be glad you did.

Buying coffee can be challenging. Why? There are so many coffee brands. If you know good tips on how to shop for coffee, you will be able to find a brand that you truly enjoy. I’d like to share with you some suggestions on what to look for when getting the most out of your next coffee purchase.

But first, let me explain how I learned about buying coffee. When I first tried an inexpensive brand of coffee, I almost spit it out. I thought, “How can people drink this stuff and enjoy it?” Since I was not after the caffeine effect, it was a long time before I’d try another cup of coffee. But I worked in a retail shop that was close to a gourmet coffee shop. I bought many flavored beverages from the shop. One day, I decided to try a flavored coffee. Luckily, I really enjoyed it. If I hadn’t, I don’t know if I would have ever tried coffee again. But drinking a regular cup of coffee didn’t appeal much to me. I became kind of a “fun coffee” kind of person, trying different flavors whenever I felt like a change. It also helped that I was married to a ‘coffee lover’ and learned valuable insight from him. He told me that I shouldn’t have to flavor coffee to get a good taste that I enjoy. My husband is a bit of a coffee snob but he has sort of earned that right. He grew up traveling to Guatemala with his parents to visit relatives. His grandfather immigrated to America from Guatemala and became a citizen of this great country. Because of this connection, my husband would visit the Guatemalan relatives on the family coffee farm as a boy and as an adult. Personally, I have visited Guatemala twice, to meet family, visit the family farm, and learn about coffee production. As you can imagine, coffee drinking is big in his family.

Nevertheless, here are the tips I have learned when looking for a good coffee:

1) Smell the coffee in the bag if you are able. Make sure it has a desirable aroma.
2) Check out the source of the coffee. Where is it from? Is it Estate Grown coffee of a high quality or is it a blend of “leftovers”?
3) How was it processed before it got to the roaster? Was it sun dried for a higher quality?
4) Buy whole bean for the ability to see the beans before your grind. If the beans are broken, have wholes in them or are all inconsistent sizes, don’t buy.
5) What kind of roast is it? Vienna, French or Espresso? Be sure to buy the correct roast for your taste buds or you may get a false impression of the coffee. Vienna is a lighter roast, French is a little darker and Espresso is a very dark roast.

Once you figure out which coffee you like, make sure the brewing is done correctly so that you ensure a smooth delicious flavor. Now you can sit back and really enjoy that coffee taste. Enjoy.

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world. It is the second most traded physical commodity worldwide, ranking second only to petroleum. That is amazing and a good indication of the billions of beans harvested, processed, traded, roasted and sold 24/7 around planet Earth.

There are many reasons why people enjoy drinking coffee:

The brew complements the time spent reading a good book. Reading offers both pleasure and information. Reading offers a view into another world when you can escape the present and pretend to be in another dimension, time or space. Reading offers the opportunity to see the world through someone else’s eyes and to broaden our understanding of the world around us. Drinking coffee provides a sensory experience that adds pleasure to the tongue and palate in addition to the mental enjoyment from reading. Anne Morrow Lindbergh (1906-2001), pioneering American aviatrix and author who was married to Charles Lindbergh, said about coffee “Good communication is just as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after.”

The taste of coffee is simply delightful. Our taste buds are extremely sensitive organs and will “tingle” when stimulated. The four basic tastes are sweet, sour, salty and bitter. Learning where the tongue is stimulated enables the coffee drinker to learn how to taste the basic profile of the coffee. It is delightful to evaluate the taste sensation of the tongue. It takes practice to recognize the ‘tingles.” However, learning where the tingles are on the tongue indicates the primary taste profile of the coffee. For example, a sour coffee will give a “puckery feeling” like a good glass of wine. Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880), French writer and realist novelist said about coffee, “Coffee: Induces wit. Good only if it comes through Havre. After a big dinner party it is taken standing up. Take it without sugar-very swank; gives the impression you have lived in the East…”

Coffee makes you feel upbeat, enthusiastic, “sharper” and alert. It is not unusual to hear how people in the morning are not really ready to be part of the world until after drinking their daily morning coffee. Caffeine helps us become fully cognizant and to feel more alert. Clark Gable (1901-1960), American film actor nicknamed “The King of Hollywood” in his heyday, said, “I never laugh until I’ve had my coffee.”

Coffee is good for you. Research takes place daily on coffee, caffeine and health around the world. Scientists and research institutes worldwide release studies and research reports frequently that support the caffeine health claims, good news for coffee lovers. Basically, coffee has antioxidants and caffeine, two main ways of improving the health of your body. These substances have health and anti aging benefits. Antioxidants help your body repair damage to cells caused by free radicals. These free radicals are produced as a by-product of cells through normal daily activities.

Coffee and caffeine are recognized for their positive health benefits and potential functional food attributes. A quote attributed to Alexander King (1909-2007), scientist and pioneer of the sustainable development movement, and co-founder of the Club of Rome, said, “Actually, this seems to be the basic need of the human heart in nearly every great crisis – a good hot cup of coffee.”

Coffee is a beverage you can keep on drinking throughout the day and never really have too much. For example, the ever increasing availability of new flavored coffees offers more choices to coffee drinkers who want to taste and experience more flavors than nature can provide. Looking back at history, we learn that people, hundreds of years ago, enjoyed blending coffee with nuts and spices to create special flavors. Thomas Stearns Eliot, also known as T.S. Eliot (1888-1965), Anglo-American poet, playwright, and literary critic said about coffee, “I have measured out my life with coffee spoons!”

So what about a cup of delicious French Vanilla flavored gourmet coffee?

There are many reasons why people enjoy drinking coffee:

The brew complements the time spent reading a good book. Reading offers both pleasure and information.

Caffeine is a naturally occurring substance found in more than 60 different plant species all over the world. The coffee bush is one of them. Caffeine consumption and its effects in both animals and humans has been a topic of study for more than a century and likely will remain so for the future.

There are many different ways to extract caffeine from the green coffee beans before the roasting process. The first successful commercial decaffeination was invented in 1903 by the German coffee merchant Ludwig Roselius (1874-1943) and his assistant Karl Wimmer, a pharmacist by trade. The Roselius process, as it became known, required the use of benzene or methylene chloride as a solvent.

This is how, for many years, the brand of decaffeinated coffee marketed under the label “Sanka” was sold in France and the United States. The process, nowadays, is completely different. Although not the first to take caffeine out of coffee beans, something done by others previously, Roselius became a leading figure in promoting the process and marketing decaffeinated coffee as a new product.

Roselius filed for a patent in 1906. The Roselius process that was patented included the use of steam and chemical solvents initially. Roselius found out that caffeine can be removed from coffee by treating the green beans with chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents. After the solvents are removed, then the beans are roasted as usual. For years, Roselius and his scientists continued experimenting with ways to improve decaffeination.

In 1906, in Bremen, Germany, Roselius founded his company and called it Kaffee Handelsgesellschaft AG (Kafeee HAG, Coffee Hag). In the 1970′s, the company Roselius founded, patented a process developed by the Max Planck Institute that utilizes carbon dioxide as a way to eliminate caffeine from coffee beans. This carbon dioxide process continues to be one of the most common methods in use today.

Do you know the interesting and somewhat legendary story behind the Roselius “invention” of decaffeinated coffee?

A shipment of spoiled coffee beans led Roselius and his assistant to experiment with “ruined” coffee beans in an attempt to get some use out of what was considered a loss.

Roselius had acquired a shipment of coffee beans from Latin America to be delivered by cargo ship to his warehouse.

The ship ran into some very rough waters at sea and the cargo hull took in salt water.

The coffee beans in the flooded portion of the ship became sea salt water soaked.

Roselius was a very savvy and determined businessman who would take every effort to get a return even out of what looked like a “real lemon.”

Roselius’ researchers took the “ruined” coffee beans and analyzed them very carefully.

They conducted taste trials to evaluate the effect of salt water on the coffee beans.

To their surprise, they realized that the sea water had extracted much of the caffeine without affecting the taste.

They confirmed that the coffee had an added taste of saltiness but, otherwise, the flavor was good and appealing to the palate.

This, of course, was great news to Roselius who saw an opportunity to market a new “type” of coffee to consumers in Europe and North America. What looked like an initial loss turned into the makings of an empire.

Decaffeinated coffee is a very important part of the coffee trade and a beverage of choice for many consumers. Due to medical reasons or personal preference, decaffeinated coffee is something coffee lovers and connoisseurs consume regularly and in varying quantities. Top grade decaffeinated Arabica specialty coffees are part of a gourmet coffee’s choice list. They include single origin varietals from coffee growing regions such as Sumatra Estate, Costa Rican SHB, and Colombian Supremo. In fact, the list of available decaffeinated coffees is extensive so start drinking your cup now!

May I suggest you try a delicious decaffeinated Mocha-Java Blend?

Coffee is an important part of many people’s day. Whether the coffee is the first cup or the last cup of the day, coffee aficionados get enough of their coffee. Have you considered all the coffee makers available for coffee lovers to make that cup of coffee? Eight types of coffee brewers can give you a taste of heaven.

Cones with filters, well, many coffee drinkers turn to these little devices when their regular coffee machines are breaks, needs repair or replacement. This improvisation can provide a better-than-nothing cup. These devices are great for emergencies or traveling in places where java is a foreign drink.

Filter machines are economical and brew a great cup of joe. For the person who prefers to wake-up to the smell of coffee, many have timers. Other machines shut off after a period of time to prevent carafes from burning or machines catching on fire.

Percolators are a great old-fashioned way to brew coffee. With their welcome thumping noise as they percolate the water through the beans, many people relive memories of grandparents, parents and coffee sharing moments. These java makers have no magic switches so users must remember to pull out the cord.

Turkish coffee ibriks are simple devices where ground beans, sugar and water brews a foamy beverage thick as ink. Guaranteed to give you a jolt when you drink it, this coffee is definitely an acquired taste.

French/Italian Presses make elegant full-bodied kaffe. When you follow the simple directions of coffee, adding water and pushing the press in the correct order, it is delicious. When you don’t follow directions, the beverage is full of floating grounds.

One-cup machines are perfect for the one-cup coffee drinkers. Prepared this way, it is in little containers and hot water is added. With a variety of flavors available, the first cup can be one flavor and by the third cup you will wonder how life could get any better.

Italian Moka pots brew espresso on top of the stove. These little stainless-steel machines grew a great small cup of espresso coffee. People are amazed at the rich coffee that comes out of such a small and nondescript java machine.

Espresso Makers are the queen of coffee makers. These machines allow you to make a variety of coffee drinks.

Cheap machines will give you a great cup, but the more expensive ones will provide a fantastic coffee experience with steamed milk or cream.

Come along for a wonderful journey of coffee. At Senseo coffee pod we’ll explore all the lore, the history and the aromas of the beautiful coffee bean.
Gano healthy coffee, as it is called, is produced from coffee and the Asian mushroom species Ganoderma Lucidum. People drink this Ganoderma coffee to help them overcome a variety of inflammatory conditions and others that lead to damage to the cardiovascular system and the immune system. Scientific analysis of the components of this mixture has indicated several reasons for the benefits that drinking this form of coffee confers.

Ganoderma coffee is known as gano healthy coffee because it combines the effects of normal coffee with the health benefits offered by Ganoderma Lucidum, a fungus of the mushroom family that is grown in China and Korea. Also known as Reishi and lingzhi, this fungus offers a large number of health benefits, and people drink it for exactly that reason.

There are a number of species of ganoderma that have been used in traditional Chinese and other Asian traditional medicine for many centuries, although it is on the Ganoderma Lucidum species that we are focusing on here in its specific usage with coffee to form the drink known as ‘Gano healthy coffee’.

Reishi contains a number of terpenoids antioxidants along with polysaccharides and the trace mineral organic germanium, and the coffee it is used in as a delivery system contains a lower level of caffeine than standard ground coffee. In addition to its strong antioxidant properties, it is highly supportive of your immune system, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antidiabetic and helps to lower your blood pressure and reduce your blood cholesterol levels.

Add to that the strong antioxidant properties of regular coffee, and you have a potent healthy drink that thoroughly deserves the name bestowed on it of ‘gano healthy coffee’. The fungus is generally accepted as one of the most highly respected medicinal mushrooms and is believed to be the oldest mushroom used in traditional medicine. It has been subject to many scientific analyses to determine its constituents, and also tested for its effectiveness in treating the medical conditions for which it has been widely acclaimed throughout the Orient.

Germanium is a mineral that enhances the oxygen uptake of your blood by over 50%, and it not only improves your circulation, but has been used to prevent pains in the legs and extremities during exercise. Healthy coffee with added Ganoderma offers an energy boost several times that of ginseng and similar herbs. People drink Ganoderma coffee for that and a number of other reasons. By combining low caffeine Brazilian coffee beans and Ganoderma Lucidum, you end up with a drink that offers all the benefits of real coffee without the side-effects of caffeine, along with the added benefits of Reishi.

Gano healthy coffee is one of the healthiest drinks you can consume, and the ideal solution for coffee drinkers that want all the health benefits without drinking excessive caffeine. You can give yourself a great energy boost without getting hooked and lying awake half the night and getting the caffeine shakes in the morning. The negatives of coffee are largely removed and replaced with the benefits of the Chinese magic mushroom!

The benefits of gano healthy coffee to your circulation and heart were briefly touched upon above but let’s look at these in more detail. One of the properties of a strong antioxidant is its ability to destroy free radicals. These are small highly reactive oxidizing agents that are generated during the body’s metabolism and cellular respiration, and also from exposure to pollutants such as traffic and industrial emissions, tobacco smoke and also to strong sunlight.

These free radicals, such as hydrogen peroxide and superoxide, oxidize the LDL cholesterol in your blood that then deposits on your arterial walls to form plaques of cholesterol that gradually build up to block your arteries. This causes strokes and heart attacks, each of which can be fatal. The antioxidants contained in coffee beans and in Ganoderma Lucidum destroy these free radicals and prevent this from happening. They can also lower your overall cholesterol levels, and the anti-inflammatory properties of gano healthy coffee help to overcome the inflammation that can lead to serious conditions such as some cancers, serious allergies and asthma.

The polysaccharides and triterpenes in Ganoderma help your liver to rid your body of toxins, and coffee drinkers in general have been found to suffer fewer liver problems that those that do not drink it. Your liver is your body’s main detox plant, and the combination of the Reishi and coffee is a very powerful one in keeping your blood pure and free from unwanted toxins.

While both coffee and Ganoderma Lucidum are very powerful antioxidants, antitoxins and anti-inflammatories in their own rights, when combined they present a powerful cocktail of health-giving substances that has long been recognized as second to none in its effect on your liver, heart, blood and many other organs of the body.

Few would disagree that people drink Ganoderma coffee – the so-called gano healthy coffee – to help them live healthier and longer and the science of today certainly appears to support them in that use.

Coffee is a beverage which is popular the world over. Over the years, many forms of coffee have emerged and people have adapted it according to the region and the climate. The recipes or coffee making has also changed accordingly.

For the past so many centuries, coffee has delighted both the young and old alike. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. had eulogized coffee in 1891 by saying that “The morning cup of coffee has an exhilaration about it which the cheering influence of the afternoon or evening cup of tea cannot be expected to reproduce.” This is so true of most people. One cannot really start a day without the heavenly smell of this freshly brewed beverage.

Some of the connoisseurs of coffee opine that coffee has two virtues; one it’s wet and the other that it’s warm. But both give a delightful feeling and totally relax and refresh the drinker. Jesssi Lane Adams once said that “Coffee smells like freshly ground heaven. ” What else can be so heavenly other than a cup of hot coffee? And that too which you get in bed early in the morning!!

But then it is not just the older generation which is a fan of this lovely beverage. Even the children enjoy this drink very much. How can anybody miss out the joyous expression on a child’s face when he/she has had a glass full of cold coffee after a tiring play day? The expression says it all about this brew.

The children are always hyper-active and loose track of time while they are busy playing. This can easily cause them to become dehydrated. Dehydration can make them ill. In the summer season, especially, there should be a greater intake of liquids. This can be done by drinking lots of water and also some amount of milk. But to get the children to drink milk without throwing a tantrum is always a feat achieved. So the next best option is to add something to the milk and water and offer it to them.

Here enters the magical COFFEE!! Which child can resist a cup of the drink and if it is served in their favorite cartoon styled cup?

The coffee has changed forms according to the regions and the climatic conditions. In the hot and humid climate, people prefer to have a cup of iced coffee or a cold coffee. Hot coffee is also used but with the advent of the cold coffee, there have been many variations in this drink. Children love it when there is a dollop of ice-cream put in the coffee. There are many people who love to have coffee mixed with some amount of alcohol content.

There are many recipes which have been developed over the years which can be served with various kinds of meals. Some of the coffees like the Brazilian coffee and the Jamaican coffee is always a hot favorite (no pun intended).

Some of the recipes are really simple and do not require too many ingredients too. They can easily be made by children too. There are others, like the gourmet coffee which needs special care. These types of beverages are a complex mix of various ingredients like alcohol, some herbs and other spices. They can be created by experts only and have a distinct flavor and taste.

Some of the people prefer to have their coffee very strong and bitter while others like it mild. But whatever the choice, there is no escaping from this enticing drink called the Coffee and one cup a day is never enough for the coffee lovers. As some of the people who appreciate this brew say “Caffeine isn’t a drug, it’s a vitamin!!”

Therefore anyone who tries to criticize this wonderful drink, one can easily refute him be saying that “Life Certainly Begins After Coffee. “
