Sumatran beans, when mixed with Colombian Patron produce dark, smoky coffee. Papua, New Guinea, Sumatra- all are newfound regions from where new kinds of coffee beans are procured to give rise to new special blends.

Just as blending of different beans is being carried out in a new and innovative manner similarly adding of flavorings to coffee is also being pursued. A number of flavors like cherry, almond or vanilla that were hitherto unknown of in respect of coffee flavoring are being newly introduced. The acidity production in body system that is associated with coffee intake (owing to the presence of caffeine) is also being softened by the addition of suitable flavors (extracts or essences).

Electric Coffee Makers – A Household Necessity

Mmmm, there’s nothing better than a cup of coffee that fills your house with its unmistakable aroma. Although people around the world have been making and drinking coffee for centuries (it originates from Ethiopia), it wasn’t until 1972 that electric coffee makers became available for use in the home or office. These coffee makers revolutionized the way people make coffee, turning the coffee making process into a quick and easy affair. Although there are plenty of ways to make coffee without electricity, automatic coffee makers are definitely the most convenient, hassle-free way of making a great cup of coffee quickly and easily.

How an Electric Coffee Maker Works

Basically, electric coffee makers work by using a heating element to heat the water in the reservoir. The hot water is siphoned up through a tube and then sprayed onto the coffee grounds. The hot water then hits the coffee grounds, and the coffee drips down into the pot, which is on a warming plate to keep it hot until you drink it. Electric Coffee Makers come with all kinds of features these days. Some have timers you can set so that the machine will start making coffee so it is ready the moment you need it-usually first thing in the morning! Some new coffee makers are designed to make exactly one perfect cup of coffee, no more, no less. Others can make a wide assortment of coffee drinks, including espresso, cappuccino, café latte, and many others.

The Future of Coffee Makers

Home coffee makers are so widespread in the west that nearly every household has at least one on the kitchen counter. Yet things started to change once coffee chains like Starbucks started opening on corners worldwide. Since coffee shops can make specialty coffee drinks that you probably wouldn’t make at home, many people started choosing not to make their cup of joe at home anymore.  Coffee chains opened all over the world, buoyed by the voracious appetites of coffee lovers willing to fork over four bucks for a cup of coffee.

But alas, the tide seems to be reversing again. It seems that people are keeping a better hold on their wallets’ contents, and have come to realize that it costs at least 10 times as much to buy coffee than to make it yourself at home, and many coffee shops are closing due to lack of business. Starbucks has been shutting down stores like crazy.  Though many people will still frequent coffee shops, the home coffee machine definitely still holds a prominent position on the kitchen counter.

A mug is a mug. Right? Wrong. At least not if you’re a coffee drinker. Some people have a favorite mug that they drink out of daily. In fact is may be so used that it is permanently stained with coffee. Then there are the specialty coffee cups or mugs. The ones that are used to serve the fancier coffee drinks in, like the Irish coffee mug or cappuccino mug. Each mug has its own special use which is determined by what it is being used for or who is using it.

Basic Coffee Cups

These are the ordinary coffee cups that usually come with dinnerware sets. Most people get a set when they first get married. They typically aren’t fancy or insulated but they do hold a cup of coffee. Most come with a matching saucer, if they were part of a dinnerware set.

Designs and Collector Mugs

These are similar to the coffee mugs that come in dinnerware sets except they are usually purchased individually. They can have pictures, designs, artwork and more on them. Almost all tourist locations have coffee mugs with their city or location on them.

Advertisements often appear on these type coffee cups as well. Companies order them logoed to use a client give always in order to keep their name in front of your eyes.

Collector mugs can also come in odd sizes and shapes. There are mugs shaped like mouse ears from Florida or like golf balls from the local golf resort. Coffee mug makers have unlimited imaginations it seems.

Serious coffee mug collectors don’t even drink coffee from their mugs; they put them on display and never use them. Military themed coffee mugs are one example of a collectible coffee mug.

Specialty Coffee Mugs

There are some coffee mugs that are made especially for the type of coffee drink that is being served in them.

The Irish coffee mug is used to serve Irish coffee or other after dinner drink that is coffee based. These mugs are usually quite elegant, made of a heavy glass. They are often taller than traditional mugs and have a more slender design with a footed bottom.

Cappuccino mugs almost look like large bowls with handles on them. The size of the cappuccino mug is part of the signature experience of enjoying a good cappuccino after dinner. Cappuccino mugs often have matching saucers.

Espresso cups or demitasse cups are petite cups usually holding no more than 2-3 oz. of liquid. They also typically have matching saucers.

Travel mugs are used when you are on the go and want to carry your coffee with you. They are usually insulated to keep your coffee warm and often have a lid with a sipper section that opens and closes.

Many coffee travel mugs are stainless steel. These seem to be the most popular for traveling but on the downside they can’t be put in a microwave once you reach the office.

To the non-coffee drinker, the coffee mug may appear to be just another cup. But to the coffee drinker it can be as important as the coffee itself. From the plain white coffee mug to your favorite, well used ceramic mug that hold a quart coffee mugs, to some people, play an important part in the coffee drinking experience.

The ‘Flavored Coffee’ Craze

Many coffee lovers have a variety of favorite flavored coffees. Good coffee isn’t just in Seattle any more, it’s a world wide phenomenon; just look at Starbucks!

Centuries ago, Turks added spices and herbs to their coffee to give it flavor; this is how flavored coffee was first introduced. Until the 1990′s the transition was not accepted by everyone. This has changed dramatically since then.

Customers who frequented specialty coffee shops quickly took to flavored coffee drinks once they were introduced. Additions of liquid coffee flavorings with the likes of chocolate, vanilla, mint, cinnamon, hazelnuts and others have created a following and most of them have become all time favorites.

Flavored Coffee – Continues To Be a Favorite

You will find great pleasure in a cup of hot coffee. Nowadays, there’s always a choice whether to drink cold or hot coffee. Drinking a hot cup of coffee on a summer day is not so good after all, but having a cool flavored coffee beverage is simply ideal.

Although you can have your flavored coffee made any way you like, we suggest having them cold, blended or iced. Which ever it is, flavored coffee is here to stay no matter the weather.

You have a nice variety of options at coffee shops as you can order it blended, cold or iced. But you will always notice the flavor of coffee is still distinct no matter what flavor has been added.

The best coffee to use in preparing flavored coffee is Arabica because it has a stronger flavor. But a combination of Arabica and Robusta will also make good flavored coffees and this blend is more reasonably priced in the market today.

Which Coffee: Gourmet or Non-Gourmet Flavored?

People fear expensive prices with the thought of flavored coffee. Although it is true sometimes, that does not mean that it always is. The luxury of a gourmet flavored coffee might feel decadent, especially if money is tight. But you really don’t have to pay for too much just to get the best flavored coffee.

The coffee shop industry has become sophisticated very quickly – these days they can easily please the customer who doesn’t want to pay for anything extra. Gourmet in the world of coffee means only one thing- going straight Arabica coffee.

Coffee handling and ingredients are components of the business expenses, so there is no reason to add to the price of coffee which could be afforded by many. If you are trying to achieve good flavor and quality to coffee, one of the best solutions is to blend Arabic and Robusta coffees. When coffee is supplemented with exotic flavors the taste is further enhanced.

Not only are there numerous flavors, but they have interesting combinations of the beans Find such coffees as almond nut crème, amaretto, banana nut, Bavarian mint, blueberry, butterscotch, caramel, chocolate, cinnamon apple, coconut cream, eggnog, French vanilla, kahula, peppermint, pina colada, pumpkin, strawberry, tiramisu, vanilla nut, White Russian and on an on.

Many coffee lovers are turning to flavored coffee. In warm weather or cold, during any season, flavored coffee is great year round.

Peyton Hines has been drinking coffee for over 45 years. He had his first taste for coffee when he worked offshore and realized that the only “break” was a coffee break. Over the years his love for coffee continued to grow. Three years ago he started to investigate and educate himself about the numerous varieties and different types of coffee.
