Most scintillating conversations take place in the coffee house. This is a place where everyone loosens up and tries to just enjoy the aroma and the feel of this wonderful beverage. It is not at all an exaggeration when someone says that “A cup of coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent.”

Likewise coffee and romance too go hand in hand. Since the advent of coffee and its subsequent popularity, coffee houses have been an integral part of any town or city. They have been the meeting places of both men and women where they used to gather and discuss a variety of subjects ranging from the more personal romantic ones to the more business related. Coffee houses gave a much needed space for leisurely conversation without the hindrance of the outside world. Many a romances have begun and flourished over a hot cup of coffee. There is a Turkish proverb which says “Coffee should be black as hell, strong as death and as sweet as love. “

This proves to be very true when one visualizes the beverage and the impact it has on the human body and the various sentiments it arouses. It can easily draw similarity because true love is also intense and all consuming. It really rejuvenates one’s body and mind. This mystical drink too has the same effect and people once addicted to coffee can rarely let go of it.

Paris is considered the Romantic Capital of the world and since the introduction of the coffee in the late 17th century; the very concept of romance saw a sea change. Many coffee houses or cafes came into existence which served coffee on a cobblestone street which was the perfect setting for people in love. Coffee became an aphrodisiac for the romantics who would spend hours talking over a cup of hot coffee. There is a popular German saying that says “Coffee and love are best when they are hot. “

Can anyone really resist a cup of coffee sitting in front of the fireplace and having a cozy time with one’s beloved? Or can anything be more romantic than the freshly brewed coffee being served by your romantic partner first thing in the morning? One actually enjoys the sound of the coffee grinder when it is being used by your spouse or partner. It doesn’t sound like an intrusion, rather it gives a nice feeling that someone cares about you and is going to such great lengths as to preparing a freshly grounded coffee for you. This is the magic of Coffee.

Coffee always gives a cozy and warm feeling and therefore this drink has become the mainstay of couples round the world and has come to be synonymous with romantic rendezvous. There can be many romantic ideas which include coffee. Some of them are given below for people who would like to surprise their beloved with a romantic gesture. These work for people who are supposedly labeled unromantic by their partners:

Breakfast in Bed including warm delicious croissants and a hot cup of coffee
A cup of hot coffee while it is raining outside
Rendezvous at a cozy coffee shop while sitting in a corner
Long Drive and hot coffee in a village cafeteria
Slow & Soothing music & cup of hot coffee for both
Reading a Book to your Partner while Sipping a cup of Coffee

I am sure that any person who is in love will really love to try out these romantic ideas. If he/she meets with success then the whole credit should rightfully belong to this wonderful drink called the COFFEE.

The AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker is a Must For Home Brewers

For those who love coffee, I mean really truly love their coffee, as in they are passionate about what makes a good coffee, it can be a dilemma. The coffee aficionado will have their preferred cafe that they frequent because they know the Batista will make the coffee just the way they like it. The passionate coffee connoisseur can tell you if the coffee is burnt, the milk too hot, the type of coffee used acceptable and so it goes on. They know the difference between a Latte and a Cafe au lait, a flat white and a cappuccino.

So what happens when the coffee wise wish to bring the sacred brew into their own home? Many realise that the same results just cannot be duplicated at home. They know and understand the artist that is the coffee Batista and respect his craft. Others however will attempt to produce a great cup themselves and there begins the pursuit of the ultimate coffee making implement.

The truly dedicated coffee lover will have in his or her kitchen an assortment of coffee brewing devices. It is likely they will have a filter coffee machine. This appliance usually takes the form of a heating plate where a tempered glass pot is placed into which the coffee drips as heated water percolates through the coffee grounds, which are contained within a paper filter inside a filter holder. The coffee from these machines, I find is usually quite weak or “watery” and lacks richness or body.

They may also have a plunger or “French press”. Coffee grounds are placed at the bottom of a straight-sided glass jug then boiling water is poured over them. The coffee is then left to brew for a few minutes before the plunger is slowly pushed down forcing the water through a fine strainer. The coffee from this method is far superior to the filter maker in my opinion, but still not up there with my local coffee house.

Then there is the caffetiere. This handy little device is loved by people of European extraction everywhere. Frankly, I never could master the technique of making coffee with this utensil. Again, it is based on the steam and pressure principal. Water is placed in the bottom section with coffee grounds placed in a perforated container above the water. After screwing the top section on the caffetiere is placed over a flame. Once the water reaches boiling point it percolates through the coffee and up into the top section. Once all the water has gone from the bottom section your coffee is made. The caffetiere makes a nice strong coffee just the way I like it. But I was never sure whether I was then supposed to top it up with boiling water or hot milk and in the end I ended up leaving it in the back of my pantry.

Not so long ago I came across a wonderful new product which seems to answer all my wishes. It is called the AeroPress and it is quite an amazing item. It processes the coffee using steam and pressure and the coffee that results is rich and not at all bitter. To add to this is the price. This is an incredibly well priced device. This handy little appliance takes up very little space in my cupboard and I am not restricted in the choice of coffee I can use. What a great find!

For those who love coffee, you know that you can distinctly tell the quality of the coffee just by the aroma you get from the brew. But for the average coffee drinker, brand names usually reign supreme when it comes to sipping their favorite cup of Joe.

With the growing market of delicious coffee, people continually search their local area for the best coffee that’s convenient. While some may argue that Whole Food has everything you need for the perfect brew, there are gourmet coffee brands that some might dismiss.

It would help those looking for a great brew to experiment and try these higher ticketed beans to get a better sense of what is out there. This article will cover the top five brands of coffee in America today. Some range from the everyday to the premium merchant names that we have all come to admire.

Starbucks

Coming in at number one, Starbucks still remains at the top of the list. With loyal followers nationwide, some argue this is the best coffer brand worldwide. However, this fame to glory can also be attributed to the marketing and public perception of Starbucks Coffee. Its trendiest and cozy couches do help draw in customers day in and day out.

Coffee is embedded in daily culture and it’s no longer a breakfast thing. It’s has become a social engagement as well. It caters to both young and old, across all demographics.

With humble roots back in Seattle, Starbucks has grown internationally with over 16,000 stores worldwide. They also have expanded their product line for coffee lovers to experience the prefect brew at home. One of their more famous creations is the latte and blended coffee being sold in sachet packs.

Pee’s Coffee

Another homegrown coffee brand from Seattle, Peet’s coffee has grown into a 500 million dollar business as of 2009. Its coffee is also sold in groceries stores nationwide. A little history shows a relationship with Starbucks coffee house.

The founders of Starbucks sued to be able to for Peet’s and ended up introducing their own specialty coffee blend.

Dunkin Donuts

On the other side of the coin, Dunkin Donuts ranks in the top five of coffee brands in the United States. The allure of a simple plain good ol’ cup of black coffee has its appeal. Made fresh daily and consistently, Dunkin Donuts still brews a favorite fresh cup of java for its loyal and frugal customers. Some argue it’s just as good as the fancy Starbuck brand.

The simplicity of cream, sugar and coffee is a winner everyday at Dunkin Donuts and their revenue shows that. After buying the Mister Donut brand, they quickly gobbled up more of the market share.

Maxwell House Coffee

The fourth popular coffee brand on consumer favorites is Maxwell House Coffee. Many coffee aficionados claim that their coffee rivals that of Starbucks and can be it in a blind taste test. As a household name, Maxwell house continues to serve its client base every quarter. This Kraft owned brand continues to brew coffee that’s good to the last drop.

Caribou Coffee

Caribou coffee is the second largest retailer of coffee and espresso in the United States to Starbucks.

One of their popular blends is their Rainforest Blend that gives the coffee brew a unique flavor of fruitiness.

So whatever brand fills your cup of coffee, there are a wide range of taste, textures and price ranges to suit your mood. Be sure to also visit your local supermarket for additional selections.

Bulk Coffee Purchase is the Way to Save Money If You Make a Lot of Coffee

If you are the owner of a restaurant, coffee house or large business, then it’s time to think about buying coffee in bulk.  You’re probably making large amounts of coffee and buying it in bulk can save you a significant amount of many.  Here are some tips for bulk purchase of coffee.

Looking for Large Volume Purchase Program

A bulk coffee program is a plan that will ship you a predetermined amount of it each month.  The amounts vary, so make sure you find a plan which suits your needs.  Begin by ordering a conservative amount to make sure you aren’t stuck with too much coffee on your hands.  Most of the plans offer a house blend brand of it which may be imported from Sumatra, Kenya, Central America or South America.

Buying Online

If you buy coffee online in bulk, you should be able to find it at a discount.  This may seem great at first, but don’t forget to factor in the cost of shipping.  The shipping cost may be sizable since coffee ships in bags weighing up to 25 pounds.  One way to cut down on shipping costs is to find a local distributor.  Not only will save you money, but it can also save you delivery time.  The last thing you want to do is to end up paying high overnight shipping costs for 25 pounds of bulk coffee.

Brew it Correctly

If you do own a restaurant, coffee hour or large business and are making a lot of coffee, be sure to use a commercial grade coffee machine for brewing your coffee.  A coffee maker designed for home use cannot make coffee fast enough and it can’t get the water hot enough for optimal brewing.  Really high water temperature is one of the secrets to the great coffee served in your favorite coffee house.

If you’re not making a lot of coffee, then buying it in bulk is really not the answer for you.  A great cup of coffee is brewed from fresh beans, so you only want to buy enough coffee for one month at a time.  You may save money with volume purchase, but if it sits for several months before you use it up, you’ll be disappointed in the quality of your coffee.

How to Make Iced Coffee From Scratch

Most iced coffees can be bought from your favorite coffee house, but if you know how to make iced coffee, it can be easy as making an ordinary warm brew. Of course, you would have to add ice, cream, and a few toppings, but making this iced concoction is so easy and fun that you wouldn’t mind the extra work needed. Here are a few guidelines on how to make iced coffee right at home.

Choosing your coffee first

1. Depending on whether you are choosing brewed or instant, you would need to prepare the strong coffee first. Strong coffee is important since you will be adding ice in this cold beverage, plus sugar and cream. For a glass of iced coffee, you may need ½ cup of very strong coffee.

2. If you want to brew your choice coffee beans, it will be better to go for a dark-roast blend. Moreover, if you’re planning to make a creamy frapuccino, using espresso is best. For an extra-strong brewed coffee, double the amount of coffee you would put in the usual amount of water. If you’re used to putting one teaspoon per cup, make it two teaspoons per cup. You can brew the coffee using a traditional coffee pot or any coffee maker.

3. Coffee can also be cold brewed, although for this you might need a cold-brewing equipment. However, cold brewing your coffee can be manually done, too. Here are the easy steps:

* Take a pound of coffee, place it in pitcher or carafe, and pour an initial 2 cups of water into the grounds.
* Once the grounds are thoroughly wet, gently pour an additional 8 cups into the carafe.
* Cover the container and place in room temperature for 12 hours.
* Carefully strain the coffee brew after 12 hours, making certain that there are no loose grounds mixed with the liquid.
* Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and let cool before making into an iced beverage.

4. Instant coffee works just as well, but you would want it extra-strong just the same. You can put a mix of 2 tablespoons of instant coffee, 1 teaspoon sugar, milk, and 3 tablespoons warm water in a jar, and shake it until the mixture becomes frothy. You can add as much milk you like but 6 ounces or more will often suffice.

Adding ice to the blend

Once the strong coffee is prepared, you can now fill up a tall glass with ice cubes. Pour the coffee over the prepared ice. Add cream or milk, or additional melted sugar according to the demands of your taste buds.

Picking out the flavors you want Cream is a common ingredient in iced coffee, as well as ordinary milk. Many people also prefer using sweetened condensed milk so as to do away with the powdered sugar. If you are using sugar however, you need to mix it in while the coffee is still warm. This helps dissolve the sugar much easily.

Chocolate, cinnamon, and other flavorings can be added to the iced beverage as well. Caramel, honey, or a shot of Bailey’s also works wonders. You can experiment to your heart’s content, and reward yourself with one unique blend after the other. Once you know how to make iced coffee from your very own kitchen, you’ll realize that doing so is not merely convenient, but a lot of fun as well!
