Coffee is one of the most popular drinks around the world with a devoted following. It is very popular in the US and produced in numerous countries but most famously in South America particularly Columbia. This caffeinated beverage has come a long way though from the old coffee pot of diners where you got a bottomless cup of sloppy joe which your waitress would fill up with a smile.

There are now a lot of ways that you can have your coffee from espresso, cappuccino or cafe au lait. Coffee doesn’t have to be served hot either and now many people like to drink coffee cold which is know as iced coffee. According to the State Coffee Organization the proportion of US citizens who drank iced coffee increased from 26% to 31% in 2008.

Coffee companies from Costa to Starbucks now serve iced coffee but how do you make this refreshing beverage at home?

Well there are number tips that can help you produce a restaurant quality iced coffee but first here is how you make you drink:-

1) If you are going to use a flavoring such as vanilla or mint put the flavoring into your cup first.

2) Then pour in your espresso or other coffee drink

3) Now put in your ice

4) Put in your cold milk and stir or shake.

Now that you know how to make your drink here are a few tips to make it great:-

- Don’t let your drink water down

-Use a good quality machine that produces good quality java (if possible use a maker that grounds the coffee just before the coffee is brewed

- Be creative and use a number of extras such as cinnamon, whipped cream, chocolate slices and nutmeg.

Iced coffee can be a refreshing drink and make a nice change from regular coffee so go ahead and try and make some at home.

When it comes to coffee, it is not all about choosing between instant coffee and drip coffee and black coffee and coffee with milk and sugar any more. Although Americans used to be limited to a choice between Folgers and Maxwell House, there are now tons of different cups of coffee to be tried out. Coffee aficionados can try a different kind of coffee from a different place on the globe every day and hardly ever taste the same cup of coffee twice.

Coffee Around The World – Where’s The Best Cup of Joe?

Any world trip for coffee lovers would have to start in the world coffee capital of Brazil. This enormous country is the perfect coffee growing environment, with at least a third of the land space ideal for growing beans. Bahia and Minas Gerais are just two of the enormous number of different kinds of coffee grown in Brazil.

Although Brazil makes the most coffee, if you ask people to name a coffee producing country, they are likely to answer with Columbia. Tons of varieties of coffee beans are grown in Columbia, from rich and bold blends to light and sweet caffeinated delights like ‘supremo’ and ‘excelso’. Coffees made from beans like Popayan or Narino are considered to be among the best in the world. Of course, blends of the different beans grown in Columbia offer a whole new world of possibilities for coffee tastes.

Don’t count Mexico out when it comes to the coffee producing stakes. The small beans that are grown in Mexico produce coffee that has a delicate taste and very mellow acidity, giving it an overall light flavor. Last but not least in Latin America is Cuba, which brings its uber strong cafe cubano to the table. This coffee is so strong it is drunk like a shot of alcohol.

Outside of Latin America, a trip to South East Asia is ideal for coffee lovers. The warm, damp weather in Indonesia helps coffee beans grow there are low in acid and high in taste. In fact, Indonesian coffee is so popular that they are now the world’s fourth largest producer.

Malaysia is the challenger to Indonesia’s crown in the Asian coffee stakes. All coffee in Malaysia is brewed within a muslin bag, which means that is one strong cup of coffee.

If sweet coffee is your think, then Thailand is your place. Thai coffee has a touch of chicory, much like Parisian coffee, and it is usually sold cold, mixed with coconut milk and sugar. It is like dessert in a coffee cup.

Coffee is the second most imported commodity in today’s world, right behind petroleum. This beverage has become so popular that many coffee-derivative drinks have been produced and consumed for years. Below are a few common coffee drink recipes.

The first drink would, of course, be coffee. Grown all around the world but especially in Ethiopia, the Middle East, Columbia and Brazil, coffee seeds are harvested, dried, and then roasted. The process in preparation is complex, but the coffee drink recipe for coffee is simple: Coffee beans, consisting of caffeine and a variety of oils indigenous to the particular environment in which the beans are harvested.

One coffee drink, called “Ca Phe Sua,” popular in Vietnam comes in two variations “Ca Phe Sua Da” (“coffee, milk, and ice”) and “Ca Phe Sua Nong” (coffee and milk hot”). The coffee drink recipe for the first consists of the simple process of blending dark French Roast with a quarter to half percent of condensed milk and then pouring, through a small drip filter, over ice. The coffee drink recipe for the second is similar, but ice is withheld, leaving only hot “Ca Phe Sua.”

The famous and widely consumed Espresso, invented and developed in Italy and popular all over Europe, has a wide array of coffee drink recipes. Only a couple of them are described here.

A formal Italian Espresso is made by forcing moderately hot water through high pressure (nine to ten atmospheres, or bars) into extremely fine-ground coffee to create a drink thicker in consistency than regular coffee and composed of a variety of vegetable oils, proteins, sugars, and reddish-brown foam called Crema.

Espresso has very little water. The coffee drink recipe for Caffe’ Americano (“American Coffee”), an American version of Espresso, has a higher degree of water and is made similar to the drip-brew fashion.

The coffee drink recipe for Latte (Italian for “milk”) is a simple one: “Café a Latte, meaning “Coffee and Milk,” consists of one-third Espresso and two-thirds steamed milk, poured together simultaneously into either side of the drinking cup. Café’ Lattes typically have foam floating on top.

The Frappaccino is a popular drink sold by the Starbucks coffee chain. This coffee drink recipe is as follows: one-part soluble coffee is blended with water, which in turn is mixed with a one-part proprietary liquid comprised of milk, sugar substances, and caramel flavoring and then finally with ice. A Frappaccino has a milkshake consistency, a strong coffee flavor, and is chilled before drinking.

It’s disputed as to where the best coffee in the world is grown, but many believe that the best premium gourmet coffee is grown in South America because in order to create the best coffee beans are needed for the process as well as the clearest water, etc.

The gourmet quality of coffee also comes from the way in which coffee is prepared, stored and roasted.

Storage is a key factor in determining premium gourmet coffee, is how it is stored. Most coffee is stored in an air tight container, and not allowing this air to enter preserves the essential oils. Also the beans need to be stored in a cool place, but not frozen. Freezing beans can damage them and make their taste poor.

Preparing of the coffee also determines whether or not it is gourmet coffee. For example, preparing coffee as an espresso is a more common gourmet use of Coffee beans and makes an excellent Premium gourmet coffee.

Espresso making requires a special machine, one that uses cream as well as other ingredients to make a particularly strong type of coffee. Espresso is known for its rich flavor as well as high caffeine content, making or one of the more well known Premium gourmet coffees

How the beans are roasted also determines whether or not the beans will turn into premium gourmet coffees. For example the beans need to be roasted in a particular way or they will be burned or damaged giving off poor flavor.

The variety of roasting methods also give off different colors as well as different flavors. It is left up to personal interpretation at this point on how the beans will be judged as satisfactory or not. Some people prefer light roast, some people prefer dark roast. Much of this depends on personal gourmet taste.

Presentation of coffee is another factor that makes it premium gourmet coffee. A pleasing presentation will make the coffee experience that much more gourmet with a beautiful design. For example lattes, coffee drinks made with hot milk, are the best in which to draw designs on the thin layer of milk that sits on top of the latte.

Individual creativity comes into play here, and many coffeehouses will either drizzle a topping such as caramel or create the designs mentioned before giving a rich gourmet experience. Mostly in these coffee houses premium gourmet coffee is served as well as the various gourmet concoctions.

Premium gourmet coffees are determined in how the coffee is prepared, where the bean came from, and how the bean was stored and roasted.
