The Daily Coffee Grind

The aroma of freshly ground coffee beans is like no other aroma on earth. It is almost intoxicating, and certainly warm and inviting. That aroma that has an underlying nutty essence is unquestionably one of the most pleasant odors on earth.

That wonderful aroma is likely one of the reasons that so many people now own coffee bean grinders and grind their own beans to make every pot of coffee.

Grinding coffee isn’t a new thing. In the old days, people actually used a bowl and pestle to grind coffee as well as wheat and corn. Using a bowl and a pestle to grind coffee required muscle power and time…a lot of time. As mankind got smarter, hand grinders were invented that made the task of grinding coffee much less physically challenging as well as quicker.

Manual coffee grinders were used for many, many years. In most of the old western shoot-em-ups, if you look closely at the general-store scenes you will be able to spot an old-fashioned manual coffee grinder.

Mankind continued to progress. Electricity was harnessed and, of course, coffee grinders became electrified. The old-fashioned hand grinders and the more modern electric grinders operated on basically the same principle. There are two plates. One plate is stationary while the other plate is moveable. Coffee beans are routed between the plates and crushed or ground.

The best of the modern coffee grinders still operate on that same basic principle, but now the plates have burrs, which make the coffee grounds uniform in size. Burr coffee grinders are the best kind to buy, but they aren’t the only choice today.

There are coffee grinders that use blades that chop and re-chop coffee beans until they are chopped fine. The burr coffee grinders produce coffee that is more uniform than the blade coffee grinders.

Grinders – Two Basic Types

The perfect cup of coffee depends not only on the bean type and the coffee machine you use but also the machine you use to grind the bean.

Some of the best grinders available today are easy to use and easy to clean up. Most coffee grinders made for home use are simple and easy to operate grinding the coffee beans in a jiffy.

You can choose from a wide variety of coffee grinders available in the market in all sorts of shapes and sizes. In simple terms most coffee grinders will be spilt into two camps – blade grinders and burr grinders.

Coffee grinders improve the taste of coffee because they release the oils and aromas of the coffee beans immediately before you brew your coffee. The best types of coffee grinders that will grind your gourmet coffee beans ideally are burr grinders, but we’ll discuss the blade grinder first.

Blade Grinders

The pros of this method are that blade grinders are affordable. Blade grinders are the most common in home coffee grinders.

Blade grinders use razor sharp blades that spin, grinding the beans in the process. The spinning blades generate heat by the friction of the blade hitting the coffee bean at high speed.

It’s the resulting heat that can cause the problem with blade grinders. The heat actually destroys some of the flavor of the coffee beans.

Burr Grinders

A burr coffee grinder is a coffee grinder that relies on the grinding method to produce ground coffee from coffee beans. For coffee lovers requiring more caffeine, a burr grinder is ideal if you don’t mind the work involved in cleaning the appliance. The conical burr grinder works best in maintaining the aroma and flavor of the coffee.

The down side to a burr grinder is the fact that they are noisy and slow. But you can grind as much or little as you require and get a reliably consistent result.

Also, when brewing espresso the burr coffee grinder supplies uniformly ground coffee that allows for an easier wetting and packing of coffee grounds in the espresso machine. Therefore, the best way to get the real thing is by using a burr coffee grinder.

Conclusion

Whether you decide on a blade grinder to save money or go for a burr grinder for a better tasting coffee, the internet is an excellent place to shop for either one. There you will enjoy a great choice of grinders offering an excellent array of features. Many sites offer reviews of different brands, and many even rate each grinder. It’s also a great way to compare prices.

From Coffee Pots to Specialist Coffee

The specialist coffee dealership

A dedicated coffee store will certainly have its clear advantages compared to the non targeted vendor, If though you are thinking of obtaining things like a Jamaican Coffee product or wicker coffee table and have all the information you need on the goods then just maybe specialized coffee information is not going to be the most important thing on your mind. For the folk that happen to be totally confused and have no clue as to what the difference between an item like a Brazilian Santos sachet or german coffee machine [ just kidding you ], the guidance of a coffee specialist will surely be well received and any shopper is guaranteed to gain from the valuable help of an expert.

Another fine advantage of the specialized coffee store is it might undoubtedly supply a huge assortment of coffee products and other nice items in stock, say then you wanted to choose from a quantity of different goods like commercial coffee grinders, coffee blending kits or similar products then the specialist coffee stores are more likely to help you. The fact that a specialist coffee vendor will undoubtedly stock a large amount of products for you to look at will probably mean that you are much more likely to come across the product that is most suitable your requirements.

The bigger food and drink stores

The big food and drink vendors and chain stores will hopefully be able to give most of the coffee experts a run for their money where cost levels are concerned, the plain truth is the well known food and drink vendors can obtain coffee products and goods in such substantial quantities which in turn means they are able to offer buyers some pretty great discounts on certain items like unique coffee tables or coffee table plans. If you have checked out a number of coffee guides and reports and are satisfied that a coffee product that is being marketed in one of the major retail chains suits your purposes then purchasing from such a vendor is ideal.

Yet another reason to buy from one of the large food and drink retail stores is due to the fact that lots of them have such a huge amount of power that the massive coffee makers will actually produce original brand merchandise that could only be retailed by these bigger retail groups and food and drink suppliers. The big brands do this to thank the major stores and provides some really decent cut price coffee products within the grasp of consumers.

My own opinion is there is tons of room for both the specialist coffee stores and the huge food and drink retail groups or department stores, both have their own individual advantages and it doesn’t difference if you are thinking about buying a german coffee pot or a glass coffee pot as one side or the other will clearly be able to help you and provide you with a fantastic coffee item.
