We Love Our New Single Cup Coffee Brewer

We recently purchased a single cup coffee brewer and we just love it. The model we bought is a Keurig Elite. It is one of the best purchases we have made in a long time. The taste of the coffee is fabulous and it is so easy to use.

If you are a coffee lover and have never tried one of these machines then you owe it to yourself to give one a try. Some of the things we have really enjoyed are; how fast it brews, how clean they are, and the variety of the coffees you have to choose from.

The Keurig Elite is the single cup coffee brewer we selected. The Keurig uses coffee that is stored in K-cups. You keep water filled in a reservoir on the side of the machine. The water does have to be heated, so if the unit has been off you will need to heat the water. All you have to do is turn the unit on and the water will automatically heat in about one minute. Once the heating red light goes out you are ready to go. You open the K-cup holder in the top, put in your selected K-cup, shut the top and press brew. On the Keurig Elite you have two choices of brew sizes. Small; which is 7.5 ounces, and Large; which is 9.25 ounces? You pick the size that gives you the coffee strength you prefer. It only takes about a minute to brew a perfect single cup of coffee.

These single cup coffee brewers are also very clean. With the K-cups all of the coffee is stored inside, so there is no coffee to spill. Even after brewing the K-cups are easy to toss in the trash without making any mess on the way. Because the brewing process is so clean, you will find that keeping the brewer clean is very easy. The area around the brewer also stays relatively clean. All we have to do is occasionally wipe down the area around the brewer. If you are as messy as me with traditional coffee grounds this is a real plus.

You will not believe the varieties of coffee you can choose from. In fact, you not only have a wide variety of coffees, you have a wide variety of teas as well. If anyone in your family likes cocoa, you will find a good variety of those as well. The coffee roasters you have to select from includes Green Mountain Coffee, Gloria Jeans, Diedrich, Van Houtte, Timothy’s, Tully’s, Newman’s Own, Coffee People, Caribou Coffee, and Emeril’s Gormet Coffee. I told you there were a lot of choices. These brands also give you choices regarding traditional brew strengths as well as a large selection of flavored coffees. We have really enjoyed some of the holiday flavors like Pumpkin Spice, Cinnamon Stick, and Ginger Bread. Another plus of the single cup coffee brewer is that if you want one type of coffee and your spouse wants something different, it is no problem. No need to compromise, you can both have what you want.

We have had our single cup coffee brewer for about two months now. We still brew a full pot of coffee every now and then, but we use the Keurig Elite more times than not. The flavor and strength of the coffee is always perfect. If you are a coffee lover, you owe it to yourself to try one of these single cup coffee brewers.

We have loved ours.

Sure, it is true that every known brand of coffee makers has their own single serve coffee makers, but if you would to look hard at the breakdown, there are actually only 2 types of single cup out there. Those that requires coffee pods and those that do not require coffee pods.

This difference is also what you should know when it comes to choosing your single serve coffee machine. This is because, the coffee pods offers variety while the non coffee pods are closed systems which means you are “stuck” with the brand of coffee that they represents.

At this moment, I know you might be slightly confused, isn’t most single cup coffee makers, operating in a closed system? In fact, it is so 5 years ago. But, recently with more competition, companies that uses coffee pods are allowing competitors products to be used on their machines.

With this liberation, a new machine enters the market -the pod maker. Basically, pod maker are machines that would sealed any coffee you like into coffee pods so that you can use it on your senseo, melitta one or one of those single serve coffee makers that uses pods.

And that is one type of single serve coffee machine, those that uses coffee pods. If you like variety or has your own favorite blend of coffee, then these are the machines you should check out.

The other type of single serves are the machines that are not using coffee pods. Currently, in the market, there are 3 companies that are not using coffee pods. They are Nespresso, Keurig and Tassimo and instead of coffee pods, they are known as capsules, K-cups and T-disc respectively.

If you have been drinking coffee, then these brands would not be foreign to you, which goes to show the reason why they are not using the common coffee pods -each of them have their own brand equity!

Tassimo and Keurig each boast of a wide variety of beverages within their own brands. Working with reputable partners in the industry, you can coffee from starbucks and tea from twinnigs with the variety of offerings.

So, while they lock you into their system, they do offer you variety in terms of choices of beverages. Nespresso, on the other hand, is all about gourmet coffee, and has their own special blend and their own group of consumers.

There you have it, nothing to mull over on your next single cup coffee maker purchase, out of the 2 types, you only need to choose one.

The Aromatic History Of Coffee

Did you know that the coffee plant actually grows into a tree? The coffee tree is an evergreen tree. Its broad leaves are a very shiny green with pointed ends that are sleekly reminiscent of arrowheads. Their leaves grow in pairs one on each side of their long thin branches as they flower and seed from the base of each pair of leaves growing along the stems or branches. Their tiny blooms flower into five petals with yellow stamen, as the seedpods progress into berry like cases for the seed. Inside each seed, two beans are usually found these beans are what are used to make coffee. The berries of the coffee plant can display as green in unripe berries, red in ripe berries and black of over ripened berries. The coffee plant can be rooted from cuttings as well as grown from seed and thrives best in shaded areas.

The coffee plant is native to Ethiopia then transported to Yemen of Africa. There these coffee beans were chewed raw for the extra energy that they provided the people. In Yemen Europeans found the plant as it was taken to Europe to be transplanted there. Arabians first made a drink with the green coffee beans however; by not having been roasted, the drink did not offer the brunette russet flavor of coffee, as we know it to be. The idea to roast the coffee bean before boiling it is believed to enter the picture back in the 1400s.

From Europe, the Venetian mercantile decided that coffee should be introduced to the wealthy people there and charged outrageous prices for the coffee that they purchased. Although it was suggested that coffee be banned it was however baptized by a pope of that time, coffee then gains great popularity as a good hearty drink. At that time while being introduced to the French, they upheld the brilliant Arabians for being so ingenious to have introduced the world to the strong drink of coffee and opened the first coffee house in Paris. Coffee houses have flourished since that time. Eventually, coffee made its rounds into Austria and Poland.

Introduced in the seventeen hundreds, to the new world by aid of colonial officials, coffee came to America as a high value cash crop and is today only second to oil, as a valuable trade commodity. Billions of dollars every year are in used in spending for the purchase of coffee, the world round. While a bit later the Boston Tea Party called for drinking coffee an American patriotic duty. Although the ruler of Prussia attempted to block the imports of coffee, the public outcry of injustice turned these thoughts of this around.

The year of 1886 found Maxwell House coffee to be named after a hotel in which the drink was served. The nineteen hundreds saw the introduction of the Hills Brothers packing roast coffee into tins, which were vacuum-sealed, thus bringing about the end of coffee mills and local roasting shops. The American soldiers of WWII were issued instant Maxwell House coffee in their kits of ration, while in America the widespread issue of hoarding led the coffee to be rationed.

As for coffee, Johann Sebastian Bach said it best in 1732 within his lyrical gist of the Coffee Cantata, Mm! how sweet the coffee tastes, more delicious than a thousand kisses, mellower than muscatel wine.

Bradley Thornton loves his coffee and likes to share his knowledge on the subject. One thing he specialises in is single serve coffee. Find out more by visiting the Keurig coffee maker website where you can explore the different Keurig coffee machine models such as the Keurig B50 coffee maker.
